Chuck Steak Ragu

The chuck steak comes from the shoulder and has a deep rich flavour perfect for marinating or using as a braising steak. This cut needs plenty of time to cook – long and gently so if you have a slow cooker now’s the time to use it. The Chuck steak is well worth the wait and can be used in any of your favourite slow cooking recipes.

A crowd pleaser that is easy to cook is the Chuck Steak Ragu and for this recipe you’ll need:

  • 500g Chuck Steak- coat in seasoned flour and brown off as described in the steak and ale pie recipe
  • Mushrooms – coarsely sliced
  • Red Bell Pepper – coarsely chopped
  • Garlic to your liking
  • 2x tins of tomatoes

Place all the ingredients in to your slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours. Serve over pasta/mash or whatever takes your fancy.
