Our livestock is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that happy and content animals make for high-quality produce, from the soil on the ground to the fresh Cornish air, we pride ourselves in providing the best we can for our cattle, sheep and pigs.
Cattle – Native
We take our cattle through the full life cycle, with many of our herd being born, bred and reared here at Trefrawl. We currently farm three different breeds with some interesting cross breeds in between.
Our Original Population Traditional Herefords have genetics stemming from our Grandfather’s Prize Winning bull Tregrenna General from the 1970s, so our herd of Herefords have history!
They’re well suited to the Cornish countryside, slower to mature, and are kept outside all year long because their smaller frames have minimal impact on the soils.
Cattle – Continental
We also keep show winning pedigree Limousin and Charolais cattle and usually have easy calving, well socialised stock for sale from within our Trefrawl Farm suckler herds. Please get in touch for more details.
Texel Mule Cross
Our flock of sheep are integral to our farming system and are grazed outside all year long apart from a couple of weeks in the year when they are brought inside for lambing.
The newest addition to the Trefrawl Farm Team – our Berkshire pigs are a native rare breed well suited to the outdoor life we provide for them.
